We are used to getting impressed by Syzz, but today… The Dutch duo definitely created gold for us reviewers.
Exactly, “90s Better” is not just a good release, but a splendid concept to talk about.
Nowadays, it often happens to us that we review music without personality, but people like Syzz make our work simpler. The only predictable thing here is the artwork (a classic future-wave sample).
The collaboration is with Hard Lights, a name to note somewhere because, after having checked his discography, we fell in love with his style. The Malaysian talent has various releases on Showland (Armada) and Bonerizing, and his future bounce sound is incredibly fresh. You can taste it in “90s Better” drop, mixed with a “delicate” big room influence by Syzz.
So, we have a happy future house (mixed with a pinch of future bass in the lead) together with a Syzz structure in the background. That’s all?
Nope.
We have kept the best part for the end. The break of “90s Better” is, as the title suggests, a funky “90’s style” composition. Needless to say that we loved it, so elegant, so captivating (thanks to the majestic vocal). We suggest you pay attention to the transition between the funky piano and the aggressive buildup… Pure smoothness, a work of precision and incredible quality!
In conclusion, “90s Better” is a pure joy for our ears. There is an interesting concept, a catchy vocal, two styles that are different but fused together deliverer freshness and unpredictableness… Truly a great release for Revealed!
We were a bit suspicious about of this release, because of the artwork and the names (they are still quite small names for Revealed so were hoping for something creative), but we were so wrong. “90’s Better” is one of the freshest Revealed releases of the year.
