Merk & Kremont – Fire

March 4, 20182 min read

82/100

With an eye-catching album art and a peculiar groove style, the notable Italian pair Merk & Kremont have baked a relishing rhythmic delight to keep their fans feet tapping as it plays. Named “Fire”, this peppy release is one of its kind.

Released on Dutch Mega-Label Musical Freedom, this is their first production of 2018 with the last release being “Turn It Around”. Yesteryear, they proved to be even more adept and versatile, as they crafted tunes like “GANG”, “Invisible”, “Sad Story” and even a alluring remix for Avicii. Without any doubt, the Italian power-duo seem resolute to impress us even further.

“Fire”, though minimalistic, presents distinct elements to keep the listener amused. The foremost component which ensnares attention is the air-horn-like lead synth, playing an eccentric but whimsical drop melody. Playing throughout the drop, it is also alternatively substituted with another chiming metallic synth. A genuine idea, right out of the box!

This drop sets up a brief breakdown, which presents a reggae-like vocal. The backdrop keeps a steady pace with an impatient trap like breakbeat, ready to bring in, any second, the riser. Without any further ado, the transition sweeps in to deliver another dosage of the spunky drop.

As a final verdict, this song makes a sumptuous impression with its spot on a combination of sounds, even though it shies away from the usual complicated elements. A delightful example of the phrase “Less Is More”!

You should definitely be including links in the article to other reviews you’ve done. I’m totally addicted to this site at the moment and will certainly be tuning in for future reviews. About the song: I hate it, I liked “Gang” “Now and Later” and even the Avicii remix more than this piece of ear rape garbage. It’s diverse, and sort of fun if you’re in the mood, but it’s just too harsh and doesn’t give enough time to break into the song. It starts at 100 and doesn’t let up which isn’t a good thing in this case.
