Krosses – Gold (RetroVision Remix)

80/100

The French talent RetroVision keeps a steady pace this year with splendid singles and interesting remixes. Recently, he dropped another one of his fine remixes, this time on Mixmash Records, remixing “Gold” by the well-known duo Krosses. “Gold”, a chill house tune, has got a new future house twist. Without compromising the original groove, RetroVision has adeptly added his unique soundset to make the production even better.

Starting with the vocal and a chiming synth in the backdrop from the original track, after a few seconds, a bright dance piano comes underneath the sublime vocal, adding a house feeling to that part. The track escalates, before introducing the riser.

The drop that follows is quite energetic and melodic. Featuring the usual future house synths, slightly inspired by Don DIablo, the drop fits well in the overall context. A vocal chopped melody also plays out alternately with the synths, I found it really catchy. The overall drop has an imprint of RetroVision, who gave, once again, a unique and catchy attribute to his work.

The second breakdown doesn’t change much from the first one, keeping the subtle vocal in front. The house-y groove is maintained with the claps and hats, after again escalating in the same manner, letting the splendid drop come vividly.

The remix, in overall, is quite ingenious and fits the original track perfectly. I already had heard the original track before and had loved its chill laidback tone, but had since expected for a satisfying remix to get released. RetroVision did that quite precisely, and the result is exquisite. This remix is totally worth a listen!
