Stephan Tosh – Pulsar

October 7, 20172 min read

79/100

A unique and electrifying tune has been dropped by the talented German producer Stephan Tosh, who has released “Pulsar” after a break of 6 months. Claiming to be a “high energy insured” track, I do agree with that statement after a listen. “Pulsar” is a fast-paced dark electro progressive tune that hits with a vivacity I hadn’t expected!

Kick-starting with a kick-clap intro, with an ARP synth in the backdrop, “Pulsar” suddenly gives a mystical atmosphere. Without much further delay the intro switches to drop synth, which slowly intensifies. The riser materializes swiftly after a fill, underneath the escalating synths, then the drop hits with its impact.

The drop synths can be described more aptly as slightly acidic, harsh, with more big room house imprint on it. Any regular dark progressive listener can easily understand what I am trying to say. The synths used here reinforce with each other to give a vigorous yet accelerated drop. Now, talking about the melody, I can positively say that it definitely has a dark and sinister mood to it, and perhaps one of the “darkest” melodies I have came across in this genre.

The drop fades away to the breakdown, in which the first few seconds the intro arp synth plays over, with some slow paced orchestral drums supporting it. Distorted and glitching super saw takes the forefront, playing over the melody, bringing back the same riser that I encountered after the riser, finally leading to the fast-paced drop.

“Pulsar” is doubtlessly a great restart and comeback for Stephan! Moreover, I conclude that he has more creative productions that he will release in coming future.
