“All I Ever Wanted” is what I call a pure masterpiece, and it’s not a surprise, coming from such big names. Blasterjaxx already released many bangers this year and Tom Swoon is an awesome skilled producer who did a lot of really good tracks in different genres, such as ‘Wait’ with Paris & Simo or ‘Helter Skelter’ with Maximals.
First, the track immediately starts with this wonderful voice that becomes even sweeter and more beautiful with such a wonderful main melodic synth like that, it has a lot of emotion and even though it’s not very original, it is still efficient.
This is the part in which Tom Swoon did the majority of the work, as it is similar to his progressive releases.
Then, after a little moment (like 20 seconds), the vocal starts to get distorted and the main melodic lead changes into a more dramatic one, with some piano notes added as a background sound to prepare the incoming drop and also to emphasize the vocal. It’s the bridge between the beautiful melodic vocal part and the instrumental break coming right here.
About that instrumental break, I’m totally a fan of the tension added by the bassline, the snares and all those little background elements that Tom Swoon probably mainly produced but the most amazing thing that appears is the little flute lead by Blasterjaxx.
It’s truly this lead that gives an incredible feeling to “All I Ever Wanted”!
It seems being captivated in a sweet melancholic universe, and this is also the moment when the pace is starting to speed up.
Just before the drop, the pre-drop vocal is very simple but it’s very effective and incredibly cool.
And that drop… it’s breathtaking as this heavy reverbed big room synth comes and it differentiates itself from this beautiful melodic part but still fits perfectly with it. This part is mainly by Blasterjaxx, as we can also hear the heavy big room kick that we could hear in many other Blasterjaxx tracks, so yeah, it’s perfect.
The build-up after this first drop is very short in comparison of the breakdown, but it still has such an emotion and the mix of the 2 styles is still recognizable, and it is truly impressive.
Same goes for the second break, and the first part of the second drop. In the second part of the second drop, there’s just the pre-drop vocal loop that is echoing in the background but the rest is the same, a strong melancholic break and a stunning drop.
To conclude, I really think this is hard to find any flow to this massive collaboration, and I feel like Blasterjaxx and Tom Swoon did incredibly well their job. The collab is maybe a little bit simple in its structure and the artists didn’t take so many risks, but well, it works so well this way! “All I Ever Wanted” is so emotional, that’s why the mark is so high. I love it!
