An unusual remix for my standards, this re-work presented by the LA denizen bloody white has impressed me to better extents. It’s been a while since I heard about Tigerlily, an Australian DJ/Producer known for her works with veterans such as KSHMR (with floating rumours of being a copycat of an older track) and having a relationship with Fedez, an Italian rapper. She seems to be invested in pop, evidently. Her newest release “Lisbon”, displays laidback pace ingrained with vocal and standard elements requisite for the genre. Considering my underground tastes, I couldn’t engage with it, although my mind was changed because of bloody white’s twist, which rearranged the generic structure into something fresh and club-compatible.
We are still in the radio-friendly domain, but this remix embeds trap elements together with vocal distortions and an unpredictable melodic pattern. The breakdown didn’t convince me entirely with its intricate chemistry, even if bloody white involved a peculiar loop in the backdrop positioned with hard-hitting percussion that overlaps the vocal. Speaking about it, I consider it a fitting performance, enjoyable in a short run…
This take on “Lisbon” may impress everyday pop listeners with its lively Trap groove, and personally found it rather entertaining. I recommend it if one is searching for a casual and lightweight experience! The attention to detail in the drop is the segment where bloody white excels in this composition, even if the breakdown could use the same treatment. Catchy outcome although!
