Should we set a limit to crowded events?

After having read about the horrific incident caused at the Astroworld concert in Texas, with over ten people passing away and hundreds injured because of disastrous crowd management, it left me traumatized. Worse thing is, these type of occurrences are becoming not too rare in the recent years. Combination of mass hysteria (with alleged incitement), scarcely prepared security and several other factors have already surfaced. What I want to rather focus today is about the devasting consequences that ensued the Astroworld tragedy. Pointing fingers would be worthless, but if I was to go to any concert, safety would be a number one priority. Pandemic apart, these live performances must be carefully coordinated, with escape plans in case of calamity and safe zones where the crowd can group without collapsing on each other. It is sure that the US legislation will be intervening after what happened, also serving a lesson for event-managers worldwide.

Another fact that surprised me was the organization selling out over fifty thousand tickets, despite officials having clearly warned about a lower number of audience for an ideal level of surveillance (and because of pandemic regulations). Past history about the organizers have also come to light, showing that they have been equally irresponsible beforehand.

At the time of writing, the American rapper and Live Nation are facing over 750 million USD worth of lawsuits, with plaintiffs containing the victims and their families, Apple (who conducted the livestream), Drake and many more.

The question that we could perhaps ask: what should be enacted to avoid these unwanted scenarios in the near future? Stricter supervision? Lesser participants? More severe security measures? Whatever it might be, our condolences and prayers extend to those affected on that terrible evening.
