Elvatix – Clairvoyance

November 29, 20202 min read

• Unusual genre for Tribal Trap standards
• Violin, piano, trap samples and basslines: variegate combination
• Relaxing experience

I must be honest, I wasn’t expecting to hear Slap House on Tribal Trap, even if I’m used to find a lot of surprises in my beloved label’s cataloque… Twice! In fact, last Friday I noticed another release, “Up Up And Away” by Brøder, Febrra & Howes, which also explores the trending sound (in a generic way, in my opinion). Should I be worried?

I don’t think so, because there is a reason why “Clairvoyance” by Elvatix is being reviewed.
Because it’s interesting. Tribal Trap (and, consequently, me) has found a real gem!

It’s a courageous exploration of classic trap sounds (thus, I can see why TT accepted it), with a minimal Slap House drop, a Future House piano and a violin lead that could fit well in Dharma Worldwide.

The Swedish creator picked up ideas from different places and merged them together, adding his unique touch in a fun way. I enjoyed “spotting” all the different influences in “Clairvoyance”, it was some sort of game. My favorite element, as expected, is the aforementioned melancholic violin, an intense instrument that adds a layer of sentimentalism to the schema. It kinda “saved” the breakdown, which is extremely minimal, especially during the moments when the piano is left playing alone, and there is the risk of being unable to build up climax. In fact, the drop slowly introduces itself with a lazy and calm attitude, with a smooth transition. I admired this courageous approach to Slap House!

“Clairvoyance”, concluding, doesn’t try to sound catchy or energetic, it’s a peculiar kind of Slap House. With influences from different genres, the result is peaceful and ethereal, a glance of the world inside Elvatix musical personality. It seems a creative world, I can’t wait to hear more ideas from this talented producer.
