Kepik – The Revolution

November 22, 20192 min read

• Refreshing but spry arrangements
• Melodic and suspenseful breakdowns
• Robust display of synth-power

Over the years of our existence as a music blog, we have often encountered artists who flat-out deny sticking in one genre. Sure, comfort zones polish the experience, but it is experimentation where one can truly search their potential multifaceted sides. Today, we will talk of one such adroit and talented individual, Kepik. His newest creation “The Revolution” is a Psy-Trance horsepower embracing certain creative nuances while at it, which we will be explaining later in this particular write-up.

We will be honest. Kepik was a neoteric nom de guerre for us, and we took this opportunity for exploring his workmanship. To our surprise, we found his tracks released under esteemed imprints like Trap Nation, Armada and support from renowned heavyweights like Ferry Corsten. Though claiming of his roots lying with Progressive Trance, we didn’t see any dearth of genres in his discography.

Onto today’s highlight, the Reaching Altitude release (founded by Australian based DJ/Producer MaRLo) has a dynamic nascency, upholding a suspenseful atmosphere as a pitched down male vocal snippet embeds aggression to the developing vibe. The following segment hit our ears with ricochet-ing stabs of bassline, well accentuated with a healthy dosage of  FXs and rising synth riffs, not to mention a breakbeat variation!

Calming down for another crescendo, the breakdown materializes with a soft and undergoing Arp synth, while the spatially spread sounds offer a handsome experience. Lo and behold, the resonating and sprightly super-saw synths play over, which emphasize the composition of the melodic hook. The unison so devised here is imposing enough, creating the hypnotic timbre required by this genus of music. Another breakbeat happens, adeptly introducing a Future Bass groove. The last round of drop doesn’t delay further, and with a moment of precise build-up, the vigorous and intense part of the instrumental revisits with an expected robust performance.

In a few words, Kepik’s “The Revolution” packs the heat and synth-power to deliver a delightful production, refraining from the hackneyed approaches of many other producers attempt in the genre.
