Venro – Totem

A couple of months ago we started reviewing releases of an interesting label called Madox. We have so far shared our thoughts about four of their releases, often pretty interesting. It is impressive to see a new upcoming label releasing such quality tunes.

Today Madox presents an electro/big room house track, by VENRO, a talented producer from Chile. This production has been titled “Totem”, and has energetic & aggressive vibes embedded in it.

Starting with a typical tribalistic intro, featuring crazy snares and kick, “Totem” switches to a brief breakdown, featuring pad to bring up tension in the atmosphere, gradually bringing up the harsh electro drop synths, leading upto the kinetic drop. The drop features screeching electro synths, playing over a rapid melody which summons appreciable stamina.

The second breakdown tries to give a hint of sentiment, with orchestral drums coming over the same pads from the first breakdown. The saw synths come in without much delay, playing a dominant and catchy melody. A typical kick groove comes in the background just before the riser to keep the energy up to the level. The drop hits as soon as the riser comes in rapidly to let the drop impact with strength.

In the end, even though there is no shortage of ‘pizzazz’ in this release, in my opinion, I found it a bit “standard”. Addition of exotic elements or sounds would perhaps make it sound even better. Otherwise, “Togem” has the right dosage of festival electro house vibes in it.
