kotä – Hold Up

September 23, 20171 min read

Kota, hailing from Los Angeles, has released a unique track, (which happens to be his first single), “Hold Up”.

The tune surprisingly starts with a calm ambient atmosphere, chilly and relaxing. Then, slowly, percussions starts to rack up energy, just before a filthy dubstep drop hits hard with full power.
The drop impressed me a lot! With tons of wobbles and slow trap rhythm, it’s kinda more like hybrid trap influenced. After this first drop, “Hold Up” doesn’t relent back and keeps the stamina up with a subsequent wobbly drop.

Lots of interesting sounds have been used cleverly, showing splendid production skills. From glass breaks to vocal shouts and chops, the tracks use versatile sounds to supplement the groove.
Overall, I would I am pretty surprised by kotä. He showed an exceptional use of ambient sounds, craziness, and creativity. I’m really interested in what kotä has for the future!
