Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman – Phantom

July 3, 20182 min read

83/100

• DV&W’s elegance in its purest form
• Intriguing and delicate vocal, the icing on the cake of this production
• The drop delights with its particular mix of elegance and dynamism

The way in which Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman (from now, abbreviated into DV&W) create ART is undoubtedly unique in the progressive house world.
The style of those two French masterminds is (with some groovy exceptions) is to use the same formula: emotional buildup, with a vibrant bassline and an extremely delicate atmosphere, fused with a pure progressive kind of drop, melodic and dynamic.

DV&W fans know it: we saw this scheme in the epic “Payback” (with Angello), in “Legacy“, “ID2” and “Survivor“, just to name some famous tracks.
The incredible and unique characteristic here is that this formula ALWAYS works. The ability to create sublime melodies, together with the clever choice to limit the number of progressive releases at 2,3 every year, and the majestic class that you can feel, makes DV&W two of the best progressive creators of all time.

“Phantom”, anyway, presents some fresh elements, together with the familiar mood. We loved the mysterious and ethereal vocal, a classy idea, and that melody… No words are to justify it, especially when it escalates into an unforgettable second buildup.

“Phantom” is art.
A release from Buce Recordings that will amaze old fans, and will surely catch the attention of the new ones. We were expecting something beautiful, we were not disappointed.
