“Hellhole”? This is heaven! ALAN SHIRAHAMA and Komb deliver a wild Dharma release from Japan

• A chaotic blend of Techno, Trap, and Hyperpop
• Brutalist sound design
• Unforgettable energy for the festival season

Trust me, this unpredictable collab worth your time. KSHMR really found gold with this one. “Hellhole”, despite the scary name, is one of my favorite bangers recently. It is so intricate that I actually struggled to define the genre. Techno? Trap? Dubstep? Calling it generic Electro House just doesn’t do it justice.

The pairing here is unusual, to say the least. ALAN SHIRAHAMA is a massive name in Japan: actor, singer, and leader of the J-pop group Generations from Exile Tribe. He has been DJing for ten years now, and it shows. On the other side, we have Komb, one of my favorites from the Japanese underground scene. He is taking Hard Dance in crazy new directions, and I have been following him since his “Butterfly” rework on Revealed a few months back. His signature style of blending hard sounds with hyperpop vibes is top notch.

“Hellhole” does a lot in a short span. It is a real brutalist release that starts in a tricky way. The buildup feels like a mix of Eurodance and Hyperpop, then suddenly everything gets distorted and a crazy bass drops in. In order, we get Psy-Trance, a Trap switch, Gabber, and then a second drop featuring Hard Techno and more Psy-Trance. It is absolutely bonkers, and somehow it all fits the narrative perfectly.

Now, I won’t lie, “Hellhole” is chaotic. The breakdown feels a bit too simple compared to how complex the rest of the track is, and it might lose some people with the constant switching. But man, what an unforgettable track. This is exactly the kind of experimental energy I want to hear on Dharma.
