We found gold: a review of yetep’s album “ÿ”

March 1, 20262 min read

After a long rollout that started way back in May, yetep has finally dropped his debut full-length project, “ÿ“, through Lost In Dreams. If you have followed his career from the Tumblr and SoundCloud days, this album feels like a massive full-circle moment. It captures that specific “open-format” energy he is known for in his live sets, where melodic bass and future bass just kind of bleed into each other naturally.

What I respect most here is that he did not try to force a strict concept. yetep mentioned he wanted this to feel like the unrestricted mixes he used to post online, and you can definitely hear that freedom. It is “all over the place” on purpose, but it still feels cohesive because the emotional core is always there.

In short, “ÿ” is a solid reflection of where yetep is right now both musically and personally. It is a record built on connection and honesty, providing a little something for every type of EDM fan. I really liked it, especially my top 3 below:

Take Me Home (ft. Micah Martin)
80/100

Micah has one of those voices that just demands attention, and the chemistry here is spot on. I specifically loved the modulations in the drop; they give the track this gritty, shifting texture that keeps it from feeling like a standard melodic bass tune. It is aggressive but still has that vulnerable edge yetep is so good at hitting.

Slow Motion (ft. Gabriel Eli)
84/100

This one shows off a completely different side of yesef production. The dynamism here is top-tier. I loved the way yetep uses pauses in a genial way; those tiny moments of silence right before the beat kicks back in create so much impact. It makes the rhythm feel alive rather than just a programmed loop.

Gold
88/100

One of the biggest surprises for me was “Gold“. It has these incredibly joyful vibes and a funky drop that almost has a hyperpop essence to it. It is bright, bouncy, and honestly just fun to listen to. It shows that he is not afraid to experiment with faster, more colorful sounds while staying true to his melodic roots.
