It was only a matter of “time”: Reflect blurs the line between melodic techno and hard dance

February 16, 20262 min read

• Hard techno pressure with trance-like melody
• Orchestral elegance without the cheese
• A clear step forward for a rising talent

What Reflect delivers on “time” feels inevitable in the best way. Like this sound was always coming, he just needed the right moment to lock it in. The result is a genuinely exciting clash between hard techno weight and melodic, almost orchestral EDM sensibilities. And yes, it works way better than it should.

Reflect is not new to this space at all. If you have heard “drowning“, which leans more hardstyle, or his rework of “Adagio for Strings“, you already know there is a certain elegance baked into his sound. Even when things get loud and aggressive, there is always control. That signature really shows here.

With “time”, everything feels more focused. The vocal is clean and confident, sitting perfectly in the mix without trying to steal the spotlight. The bass keeps rebuilding tension again and again, teasing you into thinking you might get a standard melodic drop or a straight techno release. Instead, Reflect goes for the best of both worlds. A fast-paced, rumbling techno kick drives the track forward, while melodic progressions straight out of trance keep pulling you emotionally.

That contrast is the key. The kick hits hard, adds a few switches here and there, and never lets up, but the melodies give it purpose. It is intense without being mindless, emotional without getting soft. The mixdown deserves credit too, everything feels punchy but breathable, which is not easy with this kind of hybrid.

I genuinely loved “time”. Finding artists like this is always a good feeling, and Reflect feels like someone who is just getting started. I will definitely be keeping an eye on him.
