• Warm vocal that carries everything
• Classic prog structure with personality
• A promising first chapter
Suns on Fire arrives with his first Progressive House release and he went with the self-titled approach. “Sun’s On Fire” is a great track that doesn’t try to be too fancy and still ends up sticking with you. The sweetness of the vocal grabbed me immediately, very soft and very forward, and the classic progressive buildup works surprisingly well around it.
The vocal sits right on top of it in a natural way. It becomes the main character of the whole release, both in the breakdown and in the drop, and that’s not something every debut manages to pull off. I caught myself looping it more than I expected, mostly because of how catchy that performance is. Nothing complicated, just clean and pleasant.
The breakdown keeps things tight with that warm melodic progression. You can tell Suns on Fire didn’t want to overproduce or drown the vocal with too many layers. The rise into the drop is standard Progressive House but the choice of sounds gives it a bit of personal flavor, like they wanted to keep it familiar but still leave a mark. It works.
The drop doesn’t explode. Instead, it opens up into this smooth and steady groove that feels comforting. The lead shines even more here and the vocal chops give a fun extra push. It’s the kind of structure that feels easy to follow and easy to enjoy.
Overall, “Sun’s On Fire” delivers the simple essence of good Progressive House and shows a bit of personality in the details. As a debut, it’s a solid start and I’m curious to see where Suns on Fire will go next.
