Autumn’s here and we’ve been digging through submissions to find a few that stood out. Music always feels different this time of year, and these three hit in just the right ways. Each one leans on magnificent vocals and managed to warm us up for different reasons… Sometimes with lyrics, sometimes with rhythm, sometimes just the right notes at the right time.
Charlie Morrow – Treat Me Right
83/100
Charlie Morrow goes straight for emotion on “Treat Me Right”. The track leans on a deep house foundation with a heavy kick, while the vocal floats above everything in a way that keeps you locked in. What really works is the simplicity: a bassline that swells with feeling, lyrics that hit just enough, and a melody that doesn’t get in the way. The finale seals it all with the voice and rhythm intertwining beautifully, leaving a lasting impression.
Top Notch Rebel – Rave Eternal
77/100
Then we get “Rave Eternal”, which does exactly what the title promises. It bursts in with happy hardcore energy, driven by raw speed and a break that throws in electric guitar for some unexpected grit. The vocal is pure singalong material, the kind of hook you’d shout with friends at 3 a.m. The rhythm keeps pushing, leveling up almost like a videogame soundtrack. While I did miss the impact of a strong drop or an anti-drop twist, the sheer energy and catchiness make it impossible to ignore.
AFTERUS ft. Belle V – Upside Down
81/00
Finally, AFTERUS closes things out with a softer touch on “Upside Down”. The intro feels almost orchestral, a delicate vocal paired with a gentle bassline that sets the stage. Then the surprise hits: an energetic drop with wobbling basses that keep things grounded in dance territory. It’s sweet, it’s delicate, and by the end it shines as a little jewel of a track.
Three different flavors, all fitting for the season. Emotional, explosive, and tender in turn: exactly the kind of mix that makes autumn listening so rewarding.
