PhaseOne‘s back, and he’s not messing around. “TERRANOVA“, out May 30, is the long-awaited follow-up to 2019’s “Transcendency“, and it honestly feels like a whole different beast. Less about throwing bangers at the wall and more about crafting an actual journey. A concept album, even. Big sci-fi energy with bigger emotional weight.
“Writing my sophomore album has been a true endeavor, especially following the success of my debut,” PhaseOne says. “It took over a year to complete, with personal challenges and creative hurdles along the way, but I’m incredibly proud of the result. It’s more melodic than I expected, but still unmistakably a PhaseOne record.”
And he’s not kidding. The thing still hits hard, but with a sharper focus—soaring melodies, proper song structures, and some insane vocal features. It opens with the title track “TERRANOVA” which sets the tone with a haunting monologue by PhaseOne’s wife, voicing Mother Nature as she reflects on the collapse of humanity and, somehow, the planet’s rebirth. Total movie intro vibes.

From there, the record dives into full-blown hybrid warfare. “SOS” (ft. Make Them Suffer) is just brutal: pure metalstep chaos. “Pulse” with Banks Arcade leans into industrial territory, all sharp edges and distortion. “Divide” brings in Micah Martin and Intervals for a more melodic detour that still leaves a crater. You can tell each track is part of a bigger narrative, more chapters of the story than independent singles.
“Each track has structure: verses, choruses, solos, and incredible vocal toplines” PhaseOne explains. “That’s something I feel has been missing in today’s dubstep scene. I wanted to bring that back, while still pushing forward.”
And I would say, this idea is what makes “TERRANOVA” standing out. There’s real curation here: 10 fully-formed songs that hold their weight. Quality control is tight without diluting the experience.
Also? The feature list is wild. Drum & bass vets Flowidus and MC Dread show up on “Reset,” which brings serious energy. “RedSky” with Future Static blends alt-metal and bass. HVDES brings that signature edge on “Lullaby.” And “Shadows” with SCRO might be one of the more emotionally raw moments on the album.
Visually and thematically, TERRANOVA goes deep. The name itself, Latin for “new earth“, hints at a full arc: destruction, collapse, rebirth. And the visuals follow through. In “SOS,” you get the tree of life. In “Pulse,” that tree is literally burning. By the time we hit “Divide,” we’re in full dystopia mode. And the final artwork? A shimmering post-human world.

So, savour “TERRANOVA” and enjoy it at its finest. PhaseOne just dropped a project with actual vision.
