I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical going into “Entropy“, the debut album from 2ŁØT. I hadn’t heard much about them before, but what I discovered turned out to be a surprisingly powerful and captivating journey. From the first few notes, it’s clear this band is doing something truly unique. Their genre-defying mix of hip-hop, funk, jazz, rock, soul, and electronic music creates an expansive, unpredictable sound that immediately pulled me in. There are 10 amazing tunes in “Entropy”, today I will focus on the ones that impressed me the most.
The album kicks off with “Cage,” a track that sets a dark and introspective tone. It’s a song about feeling trapped, both emotionally and mentally, and the way the music mirrors that sense of confinement is almost palpable. The lyrics hit hard, and you can already sense that Entropy isn’t just an album about sound—it’s about something deeper.
But what really surprised me was “Arrow of Time,” which features Michael Kang from String Cheese Incident. The song is a vibrant, jam-filled anthem that encourages you to embrace the moment. It’s one of those tracks that just makes you want to move, but it’s also rich with meaning, reminding us of the fleeting nature of time. I found myself hitting replay on this one more than I expected, drawn to its groove and energy.
“Call For Me” hit me in a different way. The song touches on themes of addiction recovery and the power of human connection. The raw emotion in the lyrics combined with its soulful melody really made it stand out. Knowing that the band is donating a portion of the proceeds to The Phoenix, a nonprofit focused on recovery, just added another layer of depth to it for me.
By the time I got to the title track, “Entropy,” the finale, I was fully immersed. The song’s exploration of chaos and rebirth felt like the perfect conclusion to the album’s emotional journey. What I appreciated most was how the band took these heavy, personal themes—grief, loss, resilience—and wrapped them in such a creative and genre-blending sound.
Concluding, “Entropy” is one of those albums that feels like a discovery. It’s full of heart, substance, and an infectious energy that I wasn’t expecting. 2ŁØT has definitely earned a spot on my radar, and I can’t wait to see where they go from here. If you’re into music that’s both thought-provoking and exciting, this is an album you won’t want to miss.
