Dada Life have always impressed me as a long-time fan, as the Swedish veterans have revamped the Electro House scene in their humourous ways, notable ones ranging from using dirty leads and banana branding. Following the near nonsensical concept of Dadaism, their classics (such as “Feed The Dada” or “Kickout The Epic Motherf**ker”) amazed me and many others.
Although the duo aren’t as active in the mainstream as before, they initiated “Crash And Smile” last year, a concept that I much preferred. Detached from the main Revealed, Dada Life literally asked to send music that “you wanna crash into a wall, smiling when you hear [it]”. Pretty self-explanatory. No commercial or radio-friendly stuff, with BPM between 120 to 135.
After more than a dozen releases, there remains one conclusion to be drawn from this project: it’s fantastic! C&S shared intriguing ideas from the likes of Antoine Delvig, R3SPAWN and Vion Konger, with new surprises varying from Gellero & Roxana, Voltzer and Modica and a couple of (less interesting, personally speaking) experiments from the owners themselves.
Weirdly enough, it seems like the roster still needs more talented faces as Dada Life are being carefully picky with the music they want to publish, leaning heavily towards fresh and creative ideas. Usually Bass and Electro House with a funkier and groovy attitude and an offbeat approach makes the selection. Makes one curious on how some of the names will eventually become regulars, as Dadaism will include unpredictable sequence of collaborators!
My recommendations go for “Drama” by Vion Konger, “Nobody Watching” by Gellero & Roxana and “Beat of My Heart” by R3SPAWN. Three excellent releases to give you a gist of the specific style this label is heading towards. Finally a project that puts faith back on the Dutch label!
