Armin van Buuren & Nicky Romero – I Need You To Know (ft. Ifimay)

July 13, 20202 min read

• Meet up of Dutch veterans
• Blissful Progressive house
• Armin’s exploration into mainstage genres

Dutch veterans Armin and Nicky have finally teamed up for a collaboration after knowing each other for than half a decade titled “I Need You To Know”, featuring an upcoming singer/songwriter Ifimay. Nicky Romero has even remixed Armin’s single “Unlove You” from last year, which eventually lead to their studio efforts adjoined for this latest offering.

The Dutch Trance titan has been revealing heavy collaboration work featuring the likes of Shapov, Tom Staar, Brennan Heart in the recent times. With his album “Balance” proving his ever-growing versatility when it comes to composing music, Armin is further daunted to explore the farther reaches of Dance music to churn out another gem for his audience. Nicky Romero, on the other hand, has been equally delivering both solid summer radio-friendly material such as “Stay”, while rounding them off with club singles.

Now diving into the production, the beginning of the track was made interesting with a pleasant pianoforte, accentuated with a great voice from Ifimay. There is some hallmark aggressiveness in the rather radical build-up from Romero. Blasting with an uplifting temperament further, the distinctive elements such as the bassline and kick contrasts dynamically with the Trance-y hook. Blending of both of the recognisable and endeared signatures is done adeptly, not a surprise entirely as they have respectively proven their skillset in past.

Making conclusion, one can say that this might not be the most outstanding outcome we might have anticipated from such gargantuan team-up, but the requisite of a feel-good Progressive House has been fulfilled properly. Perhaps our only nitpicking would be with the vocal, as we would prefer one with more emotional tonality. That is subjective of course, not changing the fact that this work is a dance-floor showstopper with surety.
