W&W x Sandro Silva x Zafrir – Wizard Of The Beatz

March 1, 20203 min read

• Zero surprises, just the expected stuff
• Catchy melody
• Amazing festival tool

Wow, time flies, in the blink of an eye we are already beginning the third month of this year! But let’s get serious: for us (the big room fans) a year doesn’t start until W&W release a brand new track, so I guess that 2020 will be only 9 months long! “Wizard Of The Beats” is their new weapon, and I must admit that it fires really deadly bullets. However, Willem and Ward didn’t go alone in this adventure: the talented producer and musician Zafrir and the mighty Sandro Silva, another veteran of this genre, joined them to polish this little gem even more if possible.
Sit down and relax, this review is going to start.

I won’t lie you, “Wizard Of The Beats” is not original at all, but nonetheless, I still managed to enjoy it very much. The break starts as another two thousand big room ones, with a pluck with lots of delay and reverb followed by huge leads, nothing too special you might think. Of course, they are not reinventing the wheel, but these guys are extremely talented making powerful melodies and hard-hitting synths, and, honestly, that’s what really minds in the genre. The build-up is also a typical W&W one, with their characteristic rising uplifter that hypes the listener until the brutal pre-drop vocal announces the beginning of the drop.

A big kick, a catchy melody, some distorted synths and some stabs are the only necessary elements to create a powerful festival drop. This song has them all, so nothing to say here, they just made the expected and it worked pretty well. To say something, I feel like the lead is not as brutal and well-sounding as other big room productions of these guys, but in any case, it fulfils its function. Also, with such a title, some magic-themed elements could have been added, to increase the creativity level… Some wasted potential here.

As you could figure out by reading the previous paragraphs, we are in front of a good tune, but just that, it’s not as special and memorable as “Let The Music Take Control” or “Repeat After Me“, to name a few examples. It’s not W&W best work, but also not their worst; let’s see what else they have prepared for us in the next months!
