We have a notable collaboration to talk about, between two talented aliases, Quentyn from the formerly Dutch duo Volt & State and ASHWYN, which is the up and coming alias of Astra. While Quentin State AKA Quentyn has well-established his nickname, the Indian DJ/Producer Astra has completely elevated ASHWYN into something different and refreshing lately.
Starting off with a great ambient pad and background vocals by Swedish artist Pikes, “Rush” transitions into an indie vibe along with the beginning of a subtle lyric. The atmosphere fits the vocals and hits the theme of the track. Quentyn’s vibes are very evident in this kind of intro, as the vocalist’s pitch rises, the drop sets off with a nu-disco French Electronica vibe. This also features the sublime electric guitar (a signature of ASHWYN), as the sounds blend amicably to give a vibrant feeling to the listeners. As the drop fades, the guitar continues elegantly. Pikes’s voice, as expected, embeds more energy and pleasantness. Eventually, in the second drop, we get a rather instrumental flavour, offering a variety on the platter!
Overall, ASHWYN is a promising rising star, while Quentyn once again proves he is innovative. “Rush” is an absolute ambient track and a well-composed production, not to forget the charming vocals that get it up there.
