Merk & Kremont – Gucci Fendi Prada

April 12, 20192 min read

• Interesting approach between Future House and Tech House
• Repetitive but amusing vocal
• Flowing bassline

Are you into fashion? If so, please sit down and take some free minutes for listening to today’s choice and reading my review, because I can ensure you that you will love both of them! In fact, you can even like them if you don’t care that much about fashion (like me), but I will warn you: after 3 minutes hearing the names of some expensive clothing brands, as soon as the song ends you are going to meet the consumerist you have inside. Trust me!

Getting serious, this time I’m reviewing some fresh beats from the Italian duo Merk & Kremont. Although they are already well known because of their groovy Future House style, I can appreciate some Tech House influences in this song, which, despite not being something negative, left me with a bittersweet flavour in my ears.

As we can imagine by just reading the title, as long as we get into the first bars of the song we can clearly hear the main vocal saying “Balenciaga“, being accompanied by some groovy elements such as cymbals and a flowing bass. Then, the drop claims its presence by introducing some more brands, whereas the bass unleashes all his power, playing among the typical percussion pattern of this style. A few moments later a sharp lead replaces the vocal, just before the start of a pretty lazy breakdown where the only new elements added are a pad and a piano.

The final result is, of course, a bit (maybe not just a bit) repetitive and predictable, but it’s also really, really funny, making it pleasant regardless of the monotonous vocal. It won’t be remembered as one of the best tunes of these guys, but I’m sure it will make you smile at least once whilst listening to its particular and crazy vocal!
