Sandro Silva & Quintino – Epic (Garmiani Remix)

September 12, 20182 min read

74/100

• Intelligent approach in the drop
• Disappointing break, because of the vocal
• Overall, a respectful and enjoyable rework

Garmiani received a lot of popularity a couple of years ago thanks to a remix of “One“, the legendary tune from Swedish House Mafia… Funny to see him reworking a classic again!

This time the Swedish producer edited “Epic“, the classic hit from Quintino and Sandro Silva that marked the beginning of the “big room era”.

Let’s remove a weight off our chests: we were expecting something more. The remix has some interesting ideas in it, but also some details that disappointed us.

The intro is great: a cinematic set of percussions (GARMIANI’s style) lead us to the classic drop in a genial way. We loved the delicate approach of the producer: instead of changing the minimalistic initial structure, he adds new elements, bars over bars.

The first 10 seconds are exactly the same as before, then we have vocal shots, then a new bassline, then more percussions. It’s an idea that left us amazed! If we were only reviewing the drops, this Musical Freedom release should have received a 90+! Maximum respect for the original, slow approach, the presence of signature sounds with a pinch of creativity… What a rework!

However, the breakdown ruined our experience. We know that this kind of reggaeish vocals is a kind of “signature element” of GARMIANI, but in our opinion, the voice clashed too much with the elegant, classy base. The “Fire!” one-shot before the drop slightly kills part of the energy: we have been used to that particular fills, hearing a voice it’s weird for us.

Despite a bad choice (in our opinion) in the break, GARMIANI dropped a fresh remix. Definitely recommended!
