77/100

The fourth day of this eventful week brings us another new single from the acclaimed Dutch artist, Hardwell. This time the prodigy has collaborated with another notable Dutch duo, Jewelz & Sparks, to create an interesting Electro house track named “Safari”.

The main attribute of this release that it focuses on being minimal, delivering intense emotions. “Safari” brings forth simple elements together to make a festival-ready banger. It’s a strategy that Jewelz & Sparks often used in the past, to maximize catchiness!

Starting with an energetic tone, the track introduces a vocal snippet which loops over throughout the track. The swift riser comes in, transposing the track to the hulking drop. The drop hits with a load of dynamics. Keeping it minimal, the part mainly features two major elements: The vocal snippet and aggressive bass synth, which couples to form an intense drop. To implement more stamina, the drop displays a tribal-like groove pattern (J&S signature sound), adeptly playing the elements to increase the strength and potent of this particular drop.

The breakdown following the drop doesn’t stray away from minimalism and changes the tone slightly to lighter and laid-back fashion. Drums play in the backdrop, and slowly a jazzy house synth takes over. The synth plays a funky melody, changing the mood of the production into a rather more animated. Abruptly fading over, the riser swoops in and takes up to the final play-over of the drop.

In a nutshell, this collaboration has creative ideas. A bit basic in terms of melody, but still it manages to impress up to quite an extent. It may interest you, or bore you, opinions are contrasting, but for us, it’s a great work by the trio!
