Sam Feldt – Sunrise [Album Review]

October 17, 20174 min read

Today we are going to review “Sunrise“, by Sam Feldt. It’s the debut album of the Dutch artist, and I really dig it! Take your earphones, 30 minutes of time, and relax!

1.YES (ft. Akon)

71\100

That’s a pretty interesting (and important) collab with the pop singer Akon! The song is well structured and catchy. Maybe more “Sam Feldt” personality inside would have taken “YES” to another level, it seems a bit too commercial and not in line with the album… Anyway, having been released as a single, it’s normal! I appreciated it.

2. Fade Away (feat. Lush & Simon, INNA)

73+4\100 (because of the vocal)

That’s a song that doesn’t have to be ignored. Sam Feldt gave his chill sound, Lush and Simon their special atmosphere, and INNA did a superb vocal part!

3.Shot By My Own Gun (feat. The Federal Empire)

75\100

Is it Avicii?
“Shot By My Own Gun” is a sweet production, with a pinch of surprise. It unexpectedly uses a trap/chill out beat, a nice experiment. This makes the tune not boring and with a lot of personality.

4. Sensational

92\100

Probably the best of the EP, the vocal and the 90’s style mood give a special vibe to the song. Nothing more to say, “Sensational” is SENSATIONAL, almost perfect in every detail! The only complain I have to do is about the stabs’ volume in the drop, slightly too loud…

5. World Can Wait (feat. Robert Falcon)

79\100

That’s a different genre, really relaxing and with a catchy mood! Once again the vocal is awesome. What a shame, the structure is a bit generic, in my opinion, it doesn’t show enough creativity for my tastes…

6. High And Low (feat. Joshua Radin)

57\100

Really catchy idea, I liked the background guitar! Unfortunately, the rest of the song doesn’t give me any particular feeling, even if the lyrics are good!
Not bad, but maybe not at the same level of the other songs.

7. Save Tonight

86\100

What a fresh mood!
Again, the vocal is gorgeous in every particular (reverb, delay, background voices). Wow! The drop has the Sam Feldt signature sound, another incredible tune by him!

8. Be My Love (feat Alex Schulz)

82\100

Another track, same points of strength. Perfect atmosphere, I consider the whistle in the drop incredibly original, together with the echo it creates! Alex Schulz made his job smoothly, that was an interesting collaboration!

9. Just Dropped In (feat Girls Love DJs, Joe Cleere)

55\100

I personally think that the song sounds a bit empty, without any special feeling, a fish out of water in this album.

10. Chasing After You (feat Toby Green, RUMORS)

81\100

That’s a well studied and produced song, with attention to every detail, but dynamic at the same time!
I love the drop’s pluck, it gives a happy atmosphere and sounds really good!

11. Lost On Me (feat. Richard Judge)

76\100

It’s an extremely relaxing production, thanks especially to Richard’s vocal! The drop is professional and clean, with a stunning vocal chops system!

12. Blackbird (feat. Jack Reese)

93\100

Last but the best track of the album, I loved it! It’s a concentrate of goosebumps and emotions, created by Sam Feldt and the magical vocal by Jack Reese!
Nothing more to say, the attention to details is unbelievable. Near to the perfection!
